Karen Shiozawa
塩沢かれん
Born in Kanagawa in 1998, Karen Shiozawa spent several years of her childhood in the Netherlands and graduated Major in Fine Arts Graduate School of Tokyo Zokei University. Shiozawa is consistently seeking to expand the realm of communication mediated through her work. While projecting her childhood memories and everyday feelings into the two-dimensional works, she is also aiming to represent a world that is perceived through means other than sight by pursuing the phenomenon like sound and light. She was awarded the Best Formative Art Prize at the Asian Creative Art Exhibition 2018 held at The National Art Center, Tokyo.
She was also awarded the Outstanding Performance Prize at the 48th Art Festival Tokyo-ten Exhibition 2022 held at Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. In 2020, her works are acquired by Deji Art Museum in China.

Deji Art Museum (China)
1998年神奈川生まれ。東京造形大学大学院造形研究科美術研究領域 修了。幼少期の数年間をオランダで過ごした塩沢かれんは、作品を媒介としたコミュニケーション領域の拡張を一貫して模索。幼少期の記憶や日々の生活のなかでの感覚を平面に落とし込むほか、視覚以外で認識できる世界を表象するため、音や光などの現象を追求することで鑑賞者の五感に語りかけるような表現を模索してきた。
国立新美術館で開催されたアジア創造美術展2018にて、最優秀造形賞受賞。東京都美術館で開催された第48回美術の祭典-東京展-(2022)にて優秀賞受賞。2020年中国のDeji Art Museum に作品が収蔵された。
「現実の本当の世界」。それはかつてあったかもしれない世界の記憶かもしれないし、まだ見たことのない未来の姿なのかもしれない。私の作品に触れた人は、無数にあるかもしれない世界を認識し、その世界の隙間から見え隠れする眩しくて計り知れない広がりに憧れや懐かしさを抱きながらいくつもの想像の扉を開くことができる。人々の意識と意識、認識と認識の橋渡し的な働きをしながら、現実社会の中で気づかない心の声を拾い上げるような作品を生み出していきたい。
